About this tool

What is a Udyam Benefits Estimator?

Udyam is the official online registration for MSMEs (Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises) in India, replacing the older Udyog Aadhaar process. Registration is free, takes 10 minutes, and unlocks a wide set of credit, tax, procurement, and subsidy benefits — most of which are invisible to founders before they actually need them.

This estimator applies the Budget 2025 revised limits effective from FY 2025-26 — Micro: investment ≤ ₹2.5 Cr and turnover ≤ ₹10 Cr; Small: investment ≤ ₹25 Cr and turnover ≤ ₹100 Cr; Medium: investment ≤ ₹125 Cr and turnover ≤ ₹500 Cr. Both criteria must be met; export turnover is excluded from the turnover test.

Beyond classification, the tool quantifies the rupee value of nine concrete benefits — CGTMSE collateral-free credit ceiling, interest subvention, public procurement set-aside, ISO certification reimbursement, IPR / trademark subsidy, electricity tariff concession, stamp duty waiver, PMEGP capital subsidy, and MSME Samadhaan delayed-payment recovery — so you can see whether registration is worth the 10 minutes.

Best practices

Tips to get the most out of it

01

Register on the official Udyam portal only — udyamregistration.gov.in. Third-party sites charging ₹1,000–₹5,000 are scams; the registration is free.

02

Aadhaar of the proprietor / partner / director is mandatory for Udyam. PAN and GSTIN are pulled automatically from the IT and GST databases.

03

Renew or update Udyam any time turnover or investment changes class. Auto-graduation kicks in after 5 years if you cross thresholds, but you can voluntarily upgrade earlier.

04

CGTMSE coverage requires both Udyam registration AND an explicit guarantee request by the lender. Tell your banker you want CGTMSE coverage at the application stage — many bankers will not offer it unprompted.

05

For delayed payments, file MSME Samadhaan online (samadhaan.msme.gov.in). Buyers must pay within 45 days; default attracts compound interest at 3× bank rate, recoverable through the MSEFC tribunal.

Real-world scenarios

How Indians actually use this calculator — concrete numbers, concrete plans.

Case 1

Manufacturing unit, ₹50 L investment, ₹4 Cr turnover

Both under Micro thresholds → Micro Enterprise. Estimated benefits: ₹5 Cr CGTMSE ceiling + ₹75K ISO reimbursement + ₹2 L IPR subsidy + ₹15 L PMEGP subsidy + ~₹2 L public procurement opportunity. Total quantifiable benefit ≈ ₹22 L.

Case 2

Service firm, ₹10 Cr investment, ₹80 Cr turnover

Investment ≤ ₹25 Cr AND turnover ≤ ₹100 Cr → Small Enterprise. CGTMSE: ₹10 Cr coverage. Public procurement: ~₹4 Cr capturable. Stamp duty waiver: ₹50 K. ISO + trademark: ₹2.75 L.

Case 3

Exporter, ₹30 Cr investment, ₹200 Cr turnover

Both under Medium thresholds → Medium Enterprise. CGTMSE ₹10 Cr + IPR ₹2 L + RoDTEP ~₹8 Cr (4% of export turnover) + electricity concession ~₹6 L. Note: only export turnover is excluded for classification, not for benefit calculation.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have a question? Our team replies within a business day.

No, but most MSME-specific benefits — CGTMSE, public procurement priority, MSME Samadhaan delayed-payment protection, ISO reimbursement — are conditional on having an active Udyam certificate. Without it, you simply do not qualify, regardless of size.

About 10 minutes online if your Aadhaar, PAN, and GST data are accurate. Approval is automatic — there is no human review. The certificate is issued instantly with a permanent Udyam Registration Number (URN).

Nothing. The official portal udyamregistration.gov.in is free. Any site charging a fee is unauthorised. Some agents charge for filing assistance, but the registration itself has no government fee.

Yes. Since the 2020 reform, manufacturing and service enterprises use the same composite criteria (investment + turnover). Earlier separate ceilings for service enterprises were merged.

You auto-graduate out of MSME status. There is a transition window — you continue to enjoy MSE-specific benefits for 3 years from the date of upgradation, after which you are treated as a non-MSME entity.

Yes — this is one of its strongest benefits. Under the MSMED Act, buyers must pay an MSE within 45 days. Default attracts compound interest at 3× the bank rate, and you can file a recovery claim through the MSEFC (district-level tribunal) via the MSME Samadhaan portal.
