Bizeract vs ClearTax
ClearTax is India's largest tax-filing SaaS. Bizeract is a full-service CA firm. Both can file your GST and ITR — but the experience, ownership, and ongoing support look very different. This is an honest breakdown from inside the industry.
- ClearTax is strongest as self-serve software for small merchants filing basic GSTR-1/3B themselves.
- Bizeract is strongest when you want a named CA owning your compliance, tax planning, and notices end-to-end.
- Price difference is real but often smaller than it looks once you count add-ons and your own time.
- If you have notices, inter-state operations, or ITC disputes — you want a human, not a chatbot.

Who ClearTax is built for
ClearTax grew by making tax filing self-serve. Their real product is software — a clean dashboard where a small merchant can pull GSTR-2B, reconcile it against their sales register, and file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B without calling anyone. For someone comfortable with numbers, that's genuinely useful.
Their assisted plans are an add-on. You get filing done for you, but by a rotating team that sees your file once a month, not someone who knows your business.
If you are a freelancer with ₹15–20 lakh revenue, nil GST some months, straightforward deductions — ClearTax self-serve is probably fine. Their software does a decent job of preventing obvious mistakes.
Who Bizeract is built for
We are not a software company. We are a CA firm with an in-house team filing GST, TDS, and ITR every single month for 150+ clients across India. When you sign up, we assign one CA as your point of contact, and that same person handles your filings, notices, and quarterly tax reviews. You always know who is working on your file.
We reuse the tools you already use — Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, your existing invoicing setup. No forced migration to a new dashboard. Our job is to remove compliance work from your plate, not to become another login you have to learn.
This model makes sense for founders running real operating businesses: inter-state GST, LUT for exports, multiple GSTINs, inventory-heavy P&Ls, and anyone who has received even one GST notice.
Where the pricing difference actually comes from
A self-serve ClearTax plan at ₹499/month looks cheaper than a Bizeract retainer at ₹1,999/month. Before you compare, count what you are actually buying.
With ClearTax self-serve, you are paying for software. Reconciliation, ITC matching, return preparation, e-verification — all still your work. For a founder-owner, that is 4–8 hours a month of effort, plus the risk of filing errors you catch in next year's audit.
With Bizeract retainer, you are paying for outcomes. ITC matching, monthly reconciliation, GSTR-1/3B filing, quarterly tax review, notice handling — all included. The only thing you send us is your sales and purchase data by the 5th. Most clients find the extra ₹1,500/month cheaper than the hours they were losing.
Where ClearTax is genuinely cheaper: if you are a solo professional filing nil or near-nil returns and you enjoy doing it yourself.
Notices, scrutiny, and edge cases
This is where the service-model difference shows up most clearly. GST notices (ASMT-10, DRC-01, DRC-03) come with short reply windows and specific evidentiary requirements. Income tax scrutiny notices under Section 143(2) or demand notices under Section 156 need drafted responses, not a helpdesk ticket.
At Bizeract, notice handling is included in our retainer plans. We analyse the notice, draft the reply with supporting documentation, and represent you in hearings if needed. Because the same CA has been filing your returns, the reply is grounded in your actual books rather than reconstructed from scratch.
ClearTax treats notices as a separate premium service. You get assigned a different team, who has to ramp up on your file, and you pay per notice. For businesses that have never had a notice, this might sound fine — but the cost to you when a notice lands is measured in stress, not just rupees.
When you should pick ClearTax over Bizeract
We are not the right fit for everyone. Pick ClearTax if: you are a single-person business, your returns are simple, you genuinely enjoy doing your own filing, and you want a dashboard you can log into anytime.
Pick Bizeract if: you want one less thing to manage, you value talking to a named CA, your business has any complexity (inter-state, exports, multiple verticals), or you have ever felt the cold sweat of a tax notice arriving.
We will tell you directly on the consultation call if we think you are better off with DIY software. There is no commission pressure to upsell someone into a retainer they don't need.
How we wrote this comparison
This comparison is written by our practising CA team, not a content marketing agency. The aim is to help you pick the right partner for your business — even when that means recommending the competitor.
- We pulled the competitor's pricing directly from their public website on the published date of this comparison. Where pricing is gated behind a sales call, we noted that explicitly.
- Service-model claims (self-serve vs assisted vs full-service) are based on each firm's own published descriptions, plus first-hand experience helping 30+ clients migrate from competitor platforms over the last 24 months.
- Customer-experience claims (response times, hidden fees, ownership gaps) are sourced from a) consumer-forum threads on MouthShut, ConsumerComplaints, and Reddit /r/IndiaInvestments, b) Trustpilot reviews where available, c) feedback from migrated clients about why they switched.
- Statutory references (GST sections, ROC forms, Income Tax sections) are linked to the official notification or section, not to a third-party blog. If we cite a penalty, we link the source.
- We refresh comparison pages every 6 months. Last refresh date is listed at the top of each page.
Bias and limitations
- We are not unbiased — we run a competing firm, and we will fail to be perfectly neutral. Read this comparison alongside the competitor's own marketing pages, not in place of them.
- Pricing in this market shifts often. Always confirm the current quote on the competitor's site before signing up.
- No competitor named here has paid for placement, sponsored content, or asked for a review. We do not earn affiliate fees from any platform we compare against.
Verify the claims yourself
Pricing and feature claims about ClearTax reflect their published offerings as of April 2026. We refresh this page every 6 months, but the fastest way to confirm any specific number is to check the source directly. The competitor\'s own site is at cleartax.in; our public pricing is at /pricing.
